Meeting virtually due to ongoing Covid-19 precautions, the Waller County Democratic
Club met August 26. The agenda included a guest appearance from City of Manor Mayor Larry
Wallace. Wallace is set to challenge Congressman Michael McCaul for the 10th Congressional
District Seat that stretches from Austin to Houston. Wallace, a decorated combat veteran Army
retiree, engaged the group with his leadership experience in America’s seventh fastest growing
suburb. Jason Covington, with Covington Financial Services, provided an extensive overview of
the Club’s new website which will launch on September 1.
The user-friendly site offers membership payment services, as well as Club news, for even the most-challenged tech person. Special thanks to member Ethelene Wilmore for coordinating the new website and its launch. The Club also approved an intern for the Fall semester. Keeping with the limitations placed on public events by Covid-19, the Club will be hosting an alternative fundraising event in October. Donations will be accepted in U.S. dollars only, but will consider Bitcoin. The Club accepted 1st
Vice President Nina Bozeman’s resignation and wished her well, as she will be relocating for
employment. Other agenda items included suspending the Democrats Love Farm Fresh Eggs
program until the Spring, as Shari Griswold’s chickens are on hiatus while in their molting period
in this extreme heat. The Club will meet virtually on September 23. Meetings are open to the
public.
